Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
